12 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Web Developer in the UAE

Most hiring conversations with a developer default to "tell me about your experience," which is exactly the question a weak candidate is best prepared for. Here's a sharper set of questions, grouped by what they actually reveal.

Start with proof, not promises

Can I open three live sites you've shipped, right now, on my phone? Can I call or message one of your last three clients directly? Which of these did you build end to end, and which were you one of several people on? A candidate who answers these instantly and specifically is a different proposition from one who gets vague.

How they actually work, day to day

What does your process look like between me sending a brief and you shipping a first version — and how long does that actually take? Do you use AI-assisted tooling like Claude Code or ChatGPT as part of that process, and what does that change about your timeline? How do you scope a request before quoting it, and will I see that scope in writing?

What happens after launch

Who owns the domain, hosting and admin logins once the project ships — me, or you? What's the backup situation, and has a restore ever actually been tested? If something breaks at 11pm on a Thursday, what's the realistic response time, and does that cost extra?

The questions I'd want asked of me

Every project on this site links to a live URL you can open right now. Domains and hosting credentials go to the client, not me. I quote in writing before starting, and I use Claude Code and ChatGPT as a standard part of how I build faster without lowering the bar on what ships. Ask me any of the above — I'd rather answer them upfront than after you've hired me.
