WordPress, Next.js or Odoo? What a Real Estate Developer's Tech Team Should Actually Ask

A property development group's technology footprint is almost never a single framework. Between marketing sites, a flagship platform, and the internal systems that actually run the business, most groups are running at least three different stacks at once — which means the wrong interview question is "do you know React?"

WordPress: still the backbone of most real estate marketing sites

The majority of a group's individual project and brand sites — think Infinity Developments, Infinity Hills, Anantara Zanzibar — are WordPress, because that's what lets a marketing team update pages without a developer on standby. What matters here isn't whether a candidate can install WordPress; it's whether they can extend a theme cleanly and keep it editable for a non-technical team.

Next.js or React: where the flagship platform actually lives

The one site that needs to be genuinely fast, structured and differentiated from a template — an admissions platform like GEMS Zanzibar, an awards platform, or a group's own showcase site — is usually where a custom Next.js or React build earns its cost. Ask a candidate to show a real one, not a WordPress theme with some custom CSS.

Odoo: the system nobody sees but everyone depends on

The internal ERP tying CRM, sales and finance together is often the least glamorous system in the group and the highest-stakes one to hand to a new developer — a mistake here doesn't just look bad, it breaks operations. Real Odoo configuration experience, like the work behind JTRS and Stranbys Technologies, is a genuinely different skill set from front-end work, and it's worth asking about directly.

The actual question to ask a candidate

Not "do you know React" — "show me one of each." A candidate with one real WordPress build, one real Next.js build and real Odoo experience covers a group's actual footprint far better than a specialist who's only ever touched one of the three.

Where I sit on that range

This portfolio is deliberately built to show all three, with live links to each: WordPress across the Infinity group's sites, Next.js on platforms like this one, and Odoo on JTRS and Stranbys Technologies. That range is the actual answer to the stack-fit question.
