Building Faster with Claude Code: How AI Pair Programming Changed My Workflow
Adnan Abdu Rahman6 min read
A year ago, most of my development time went into the parts of a build that don't actually require creative judgment — scaffolding a new project, wiring up routing, writing boilerplate components, chasing down a CSS spacing bug. That's the work that's changed the most for me since I started using Claude Code as a daily part of my process.
What actually changes
Claude Code isn't autocomplete. It's an agent that can read an entire codebase, understand the intent behind a request, make multi-file changes, run the build, and fix what breaks — in one pass. For client work, that means I can go from "I need a new project category rail with its own case study pages" to a working, tested feature in the time it used to take me to just plan the approach.
Where it actually helps on real projects
On real estate and property developer sites, most of the work is structural and repetitive in a good way — project cards, case study templates, image pipelines, SEO metadata across dozens of pages. That's exactly the kind of work an AI coding agent handles well, which frees up my own attention for the part that actually matters: whether the site feels premium, whether the information architecture makes sense for a buyer or a hiring manager, whether the copy is honest and specific rather than generic.
What doesn't change
Judgment. An AI agent will happily build the wrong thing quickly if you don't know what the right thing looks like. The value I bring a client isn't typing speed — it's knowing what a real estate developer's site actually needs to convert, what an ERP rollout actually needs to not break production, and when a generated first draft is wrong. AI tools compress the distance between an idea and a working version of it. They don't replace the judgment that decides which idea is worth building.
The practical result
For clients, this means faster turnaround without the usual trade-off against quality — I can afford to iterate on a design three or four times in the time a single pass used to take, because the mechanical part of implementing each iteration is no longer the bottleneck. If you're looking for a developer who builds with modern AI tooling rather than around it, that's the difference it makes in practice.
